Vale Of The White Horse is a district in Oxfordshire, England. It is crossed through by The Ridgeway, one of the oldest roads dating back before the Romans. Many people come to walk the trail or simply come to settle in The Vale. Having lived here for nearly 20 years, after a lifetime in the city of London, it took me a while to warm to its rustic charms, way of life, and its beauty. With the advent of large new housing projects in The Vale, several years ago, and with new housing projects underway, I thought it would be helpful to write a book to advise new Vale Dwellers of the secrets and discoveries I have learned since my time here. I also thought it would be a useful book for tourists to The Vale and to walkers of The Ridgeway. It is up to date and includes history as well as places to shop locally, the best shops, places to visit, where to participate in clubs and activities and to enjoy where you holiday to or where you now live.
