Written, directed, and produced by Mol Smith for Onview Films, The Magician is an irreverent, low-budget indie comedy short that explores illusion, chaos, and unintended supernatural consequences. The story centers on a small-time magician whose performance goes completely off the rails when his beautiful assistant abandons him mid-show. Left in a desperate bind, he is saved by a local gardener who presents him with a magic lamp, releasing a clone of his missing partner—only for the newly summoned assistant to display a mischievous, unruly mind of her own. Blending Smith’s signature guerrilla aesthetic with playful, tongue-in-cheek absurdity, the short offers a lighthearted, provocative look at stagecraft and unpredictable magic.
