Most stories centred on Private Investigators tend to follow a particular storyline and atmosphere. That is, with one exception—the brilliant writing of the Strike novels by Robert Galbraith. These stories by the accomplished author focus as much on the interplay between the two central characters, Robin and Strike, as they do on the detection and solving of a crime.

The author, Mol Smith, has created with this novel a unique kind of story with a truly original plot, which involves an uninhibited interplay between his two central characters that few authors dare to attempt in this new age of Victorian indoctrination concerning permissiveness.

Sometimes humorous and exaggerated, the clever reader will enjoy the satirical undertone as Leon, trying to save his ailing detective agency, encounters Clio, an ex- prostitute attempting to start a new life. Their pasts are so different, and yet they share something in common; they both have something dear to them, missing.

If you are looking for an entirely different kind of storytelling in this genre of drama and mystery, and you’re not put off by non-graphic sexual interplay, you will love his work. The author intends to write more novels involving the characters in this book. Why not be in from the start?
