Film Synopsis

A quirky and mysterious “who-done-it” with an unexpected twist. Set against an atmospheric backdrop, the film follows Daniel as he becomes entangled in a web of secrets, deception, and seductive manipulation. The narrative draws loosely on the myth of the Lorelei, the legendary enchantress said to lure sailors to their deaths, reimagining the archetype within a modern mystery framework. As suspicion builds and relationships unravel, the story unfolds through psychological tension and shifting perspectives, leading toward an unconventional resolution.

Director’s Statement

Instead of issuing a conventional standalone director’s statement, Maurice Smith has expressed his creative vision through production notes and promotional materials. He sought to reimagine the myth of the Lorelei a water nymph known for luring men with her voice by embedding it within a dark, contemporary murder mystery. Central to his vision was exposing the “seedy underbelly” of Oxford, revealing themes of hidden sexual desire, torture, and sadism beneath its polished academic façade. Smith also emphasized the demanding nature of the production, explaining that underwater scenes originally planned for a silt-filled Oxfordshire lake were relocated to a cold, rain-soaked Southern English seaside to ensure both safety and stronger visual impact.
