FILM SYNOPSIS

2 Below 0 follows Rusty Whitaker, a man unable to accept that the woman he loves, Alice, has left him. Instead, he continues interacting with her, now represented by a mannequin, as if nothing has changed. As Rusty clings to his illusion, the presence of “Alice” provokes jealousy and tension among Babs, Fran, and Ruth-Ann. Set against a metaphorical emotional freeze, the story explores heartbreak, denial, fantasy, and romantic delusion as the temperature emotionally and literally drops “two below zero.”

The film’s tone suggests an interest in exploring the fine line between heartbreak and humor. The narrative uses Rusty’s mannequin companion as a poignant and absurd metaphor for the refusal to let go.
